Paul Landauer

Paul Landauer is an architect with a PhD in architectural history (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, 2004) and is accredited to supervise research (HDR, Gustave Eiffel University, 2019). He has been a professor at the Paris-Est School of Architecture and Urban Planning – Gustave Eiffel University since 2020, after serving as a lecturer there from 2007 to 2020. He co-founded the Transformation master's program, which he now directs. He is a researcher at OCS/AUSser (UMR 3329 of the CNRS), where he was director from 2016 to 2023.

After a period of research devoted to the architecture of large housing estates (history and potential) and the development of public spaces (conditions and models), his research now focuses on theories of transformation in architecture.

He has published around a hundred articles and contributions to collective works, as well as six books, including L’architecte, la ville et la sécurité (PUF, 2009), L’invention du grand ensemble (Picard, 2010) and Émile Aillaud, Portrait d’architecte (Infolio, éditions du Patrimoine, 2011). He is currently preparing the publication of a book in French and English, L'architecture face aux nouvelles ruines (Building Books / Parks Books), as well as an exhibition catalog on stock architecture at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal in Paris.
He is also a partner in the Füzesséry-Landauer architecture studio.
