As part of the ERASMUS+ programme set up by the European Community, or through bilateral agreements signed with non-European universities, the School of Architecture, City and Territories has developed high-quality partnerships with selected institutions.
Located on a vibrant campus home to prestigious higher education institutions and universities, and awarded the ‘Sustainable City Cluster’ label as part of the Greater Paris initiative, the School welcomes students from overseas institutions every year, either through temporary exchange programmes (student mobility) or via the standard admissions process (enrolment at Ensa Paris-Est).
Before coming to the school and starting the admissions process, we recommend that you consult the school’s website, its admissions procedures and its requirements regarding French language proficiency. Procedures vary depending on your situation (whether you are applying as part of an exchange programme or for general admission) and your place of residence. You will find further information on the school’s website, under the ‘Courses and Admissions’ section.
Students applying for incoming mobility (exchanges with our Erasmus+ and international partners)
As part of the ERASMUS+ programme set up by the European Union or under bilateral agreements signed with non-European universities, the School of Architecture of the City & Territories has developed high-quality partnerships with selected institutions.
How and when should you submit an application?
Students must be enrolled dans un établissement partenaire de l’École and submit an application to the exchange coordinator at their home institution, in accordance with that institution’s procedures and selection criteria.
Please note that the majority of courses taught at the school are in French.
For students coming on an international exchange programme (incoming exchange), the recommended language level for all applicants is B1–B2 for Bachelor’s degree courses and B2–C1 for Master’s degree courses.
The Department of Studies and Student Affairs, which is also responsible for exchange programmes, receives applications from the international relations offices of the students’ home universities and reviews them. Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be sent directly to applicants.
Selected applicants will be required to complete an online form sent by the school.
Timetable
Applications are accepted in accordance with the number of students specified in the bilateral agreements, and selected students will receive a response with a letter of acceptance:
- In June for the first academic semester
- In November for the second academic semester
This letter of acceptance is required to begin the visa application process, where applicable.
Students are advised to undertake a study period lasting a full academic year or to prioritise the first semester.
Please note that exchange students cannot enrol in the second semester of the Master’s 2 programme, as this semester is entirely devoted to the final-year project (PFE).
Preparing for your departure
As soon as you receive your letter of acceptance (in June/July for the first semester of the coming academic year, or in November/December for the second semester), students must begin certain procedures and obtain the necessary documents for their arrival in France and at the School of Architecture of the City and Territories, depending on their country of residence.
The Department of Studies and Student Affairs, which is also responsible for exchange programmes, handles the administrative enrolment of students at the school. It is the student’s responsibility to complete all administrative procedures, in particular those relating to obtaining a visa, where applicable.
Your induction at the School
The Academic Affairs Office, which is also responsible for exchange programmes, will contact prospective exchange students and organise one or more online meetings before the school closes in year n-1 (the year preceding your arrival).
This enables students to understand how the school operates, start identifying suitable courses and decide whether or not to enrol on FLE (French as a Foreign Language) courses, which take place either as intensive modules at the start of the academic year or throughout the academic year.
Course Offerings
Exchange students may enrol on our programme in the following years:
- Second year of the Bachelor’s degree: semester 3 and/or 4
- Third year of the Bachelor’s degree: semester 5 and/or 6

- Master’s Year 2: semester 9
Regarding the recognition of ECTS credits, students will be able to access un parcours adapté depending on the number of credits to be recognised per semester.
